Karl König and Erich Meyer founded K&M in 1949 in post-war Germany. At this time, just ten employees were responsible for manufacturing music stands and measuring instruments. By 1951 the number of employees had quickly risen to 60 while the product range was introduced to both German and European music retailers and expanded to include instrument and microphone stands.
In 1959 the TV and radio trade show in Frankfurt documented the growing demand for music equipment and accessories. As a result, K&M developed an extensive product range, including microphone stands, boom arms and speaker stands. In 1987 production was again extended to include keyboard stands, mixer stands and 19" racks.
1999 saw K&M celebrate its 50th anniversary and by 2002 the manufacturing facilities were extended and modernised once more.
K&M supports a wide range of bands and projects from a great variety of musical fields in order to promote upcoming generations and to make use of the experience exchange between the manufacturer and the musicians. Projects are selected both regionally and nationally, ranging from classical to rock, pop and folk music.
What was begun in 1949 by Karl König, his colleague Erich Meyer and a handful of employees, has over the last 5 decades developed into a company with 250 staff in two plants covering around 15,000 sq. metres, and producing some 1,500 end products that are now sold in 80 countries worldwide. König & Meyer is particularly proud of the way it has permanently reinvested in equipment. As a result, highly efficient manufacturing processes are now achieved by a wide range of state-of-the-art machinery, ensuring the K&M reputation for quality and durability is maintained.
